Intralinks unveils in-region data storage for APAC

Intralinks, a FinTech provider for the global banking, deal making and capital markets communities, has unveiled in-region data storage for APAC clients.

Headquartered in New York, the company has announced its strategic investment in Asia Pacific, as it deploys its Distributed Content Node technology in Australia. It claims the technology will benefit customers of Intralinks’ VDR by providing faster access speed with the added confidence of having their data processed and stored in-region.

“Asia Pacific is a strategically important geography for Intralinks,” said Leif O’Leary, chief executive officer, Intralinks. “As data sovereignty regulations such as The Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, associated to those governed by The Federal Privacy Act 1988, come into effect it is evident that regulators are becoming stringent in their enforcement. Governments are making relentless efforts to make their citizens conscious of their rights and responsibilities.

“It has resulted in our customers mulling over data privacy more seriously than ever before. These regulations join others from all over the world, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe, and task all global organisations with the unwavering duty of protecting personal information.”

Intralinks Trust Perimeter allows Intralinks customers to “Choose Their Own Perimeter,” controlling the flow of information as it moves around the world, while meeting growing regulatory compliance demands. Content Node technology provides customers with ‘complete control over the location of their data’, meaning Intralinks’ customers’ most valuable data does not need to leave the Asia Pacific region.

Intralinks facilitates strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and investor reporting, with its solutions enhancing these activities by streamlining operations, reducing risk, improving client experiences and increasing visibility. The company helps companies understand the operational impact of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) and provides tools to minimise risk of personal data breaches.

The purpose of the GDPR is to protect EEA citizens through new info-security requirements. Intralinks has a significant portfolio of capabilities to help customers minimise their risks under challenging regulations, including the GDPR.

Intralinks Security and Governance provides customer-managed encryption keys (CMK) to ensure total control over access to content, information rights management (IRM) for granular, lifetime control over individual pieces of content, and customer-managed encryption keys (CMK), which ensure total control over access to content.

It also provides physical geolocation capabilities, which enable in-region processing and archive creation functionality, so information stored in one region is never stored in another unless specific authorisation and adequate safeguards are in place.

Intralinks is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield and is currently awaiting approval for its BCR application. Intralinks has also implemented a comprehensive GDPR readiness program with a well-advanced roadmap towards achieving compliance by May 25th, 2018.
