Philipp Hurni is the Cyber Risk Engineering Global Practice Leader of Zurich Insurance. In this role, he manages the network of Zurich Cyber Risk Engineers and co-develops Zurich’s Cyber Risk services proposition. His work entails assessment of Zurich corporate clients’ Cyber risk, supporting them to understand their Cyber exposure and providing advice on effective Cyber risk mitigation. Prior to joining Zurich in 2019, Philipp has been Swiss Re’s Lead Cyber modeler. He had joined the insurance sector in 2015 when Cyber insurance was still in its very infancy, due to his firm belief that with the fast pace of digitalization, Cyber risk is set to become one of the biggest challenges for corporations that requires the full spectrum of risk management methods – including risk transfer. In his life before insurance, he has worked in Cyber risk consultancy and as Cyber security specialist for Switzerland’s major telecommunications services provider, where he led projects around Cyber security for 2G/3G/4G mobile communication, data leakage prevention, security risk management and governance. Philipp holds an MS and PhD degree in Computer Science from University of Bern in Switzerland.
