Onfido forms deal with 2nd Address, as partnership wave continues
Onfido has formed a partnership with 2nd Address to verify the identities of users and build trust in the community.
Through Onfido, 2nd Address will be able to verify the identity of users ensuring renting accommodations is safe, and both travellers and hosts are protected from fraud. By verifying users when they book, 2nd Address is making it harder for fraudsters to book accommodations.
The new process will request users to take a selfie and a photo of their identity document. Onfido’s technology then checks the ID is legitimate and matches its image with the selfie.
2nd Address is an online property renting platform which helps working professionals to find ‘homely’ accommodations for 30 days or longer. With locations dotted across the US, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, Chicago and Boston, the platform helps business workers to stay in rooms other than hotels.
Onfido CEO and co-founder Husayn Kassai said, “As the rentals market gets ever more popular, with millions of online transactions happening every month, it’s hard to know if your customers are who they claim to be.
“We bring trust to digital interactions worldwide and pride ourselves on delivering an experience that’s as rapid as it is robust. We’re excited to partner with 2nd Address and look forward to working together.”
This deal comes amid a number of other partnerships between Onfido and other companies. Last week, the RegTech company formed a deal with RVshare which sees it deploy its verification technology to build trust among the RV lenders and borrowers using the website.
Another agreement completed by Onfido this year was a partnership with cryptocurrency payment company BitPay. As part of the deal, Onfido can now accept payments through Bitcoin, while BitPay gains access to digital identity tools.
Last year, Onfido was hand-picked by a panel of industry experts for the RegTech 100, for a second year in a row.
