Biography

Dr. Samakovitis is Associate Professor in Computer Science with the University of Greenwich, London. His expertise is in Banking / Payments Technologies and Enterprise Architectures, with active research in AI for Financial Fraud Detection / Anti-Money Laundering, and Blockchain applications for FinTech. George is a member of the HMG Cabinet Office Advisory Group on Counter Fraud Data Sharing & Data Analytics  since 2017, and has worked with the UK Payments Strategy Forum (Financial Crime, Data and Security Working Group, 2015-17). In addition to his active involvement in the UK Payments practitioner community, Dr. Samakovitis’ research further extends to Cryptocurrencies, Alternative Financial Transaction Networks, Economic Crime and AI for Financial Fraud and Anti-Money Laundering. George is editor and reviewer in academic journals and conferences in the areas of blockchain, AI and strategic innovation, Senior Fellow of the UK HEA and a member of the ESRC Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF) peer review panel.
