Giancarlo Bruno Giancarlo Bruno is the Head of International Coverage, International Private Bank, at Deutsche Bank in New York. He also serves as Senior Advisor to the OECD’s Directorate for Enterprise and Finance on Sustainable Finance, Chairman of the Foundation of Illimity Bank, where he previously served as member of the Board of Directors, and Advisor to Veracity Worldwide, a leading strategic and market intelligence advisory firm. He is Visiting Professor at Bocconi University in Social and Political Sciences and he has been appointed to its global Board of the Alumni Community. Previously he was Head of Corporate and Institutional Partnerships at UBS managing and developing relationships with international organizations, global financial institutions, other large corporates and donor institutions for partnerships in financing SDGs and sustainable economic growth programs.
Before Joining UBS Giancarlo served as Member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum (WEF) – the international institution for public-private cooperation – where he was active for fifteen years. He was the Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group, overseeing partnerships with Banking institutions, Insurance companies, Asset Managers, Institutional Investors, Pension Funds, Sovereign Funds, Private Equity and Hedge Funds, as well as Venture Capital funds. In this capacity he was responsible for over two hundred partnerships with the largest financial institutions world-wide. He was also responsible for setting the WEF’s agenda in the finance domain in close collaboration with government policy makers, international organizations and regulatory bodies.
Before joining the WEF, Giancarlo spent several years in the banking sector in Vienna, London, Luxembourg and Geneva with international banking groups, focusing on various domains including corporate finance, private banking and wealth management. His previous experience in the public/multilateral sector includes the United Nations and UNIDO, the European Parliament, and Istat, the Italian Institute of Statistics. He served in the Italian Airforce. Giancarlo graduated with honors in Economics and Business Management at Università Commerciale L. Bocconi, Milan. He received a Master’s degree in International Economics and Management from the University of Economics of Vienna, and he was awarded the Global Master of Arts from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He served as a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Business and Government.
He is member of the Bretton Woods Committee, the International Advisory Group of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the Committee on Admissions of the University Club of New York. He is a Corporate Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Honorary Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association and advisor to the President of the UN Women for Peace association. Giancarlo speaks five languages and has taught Italian literature and culture at the Université du Canton de Genève, Geneva.
He was appointed Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic by the President of the Italian Republic.
