Nitya Gopalakrishnan, MD, is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for BlackRock Private Investors/Retail Separate Accounts (SMA) business. In this role, she is responsible for design and execution of business strategy, strategic initiatives, and ongoing delivery of a robust and scalable operating platform. She is also responsible for setting and driving an integrated technology strategy, enabling strong investment performance and superior client personalization.
Ms. Gopalakrishnan’s service with the firm dates back to 2000, including her years with Merrill Lynch Investment (MLIM). At MLIM, Ms. Gopalakrishnan was the front office technology lead for Fundamental Equity, Fixed Income and SMA businesses. Ms. Gopalakrishnan started her career as a systems analyst for The Miami Herald working on pagination software and the launch of the paper’s web portal.
Ms. Gopalakrishnan earned a B.E (honors) in computer science from Madurai university, India. Ms. Gopalakrishnan is a member of the Women’s and Asian and Middle Eastern networks at BlackRock, and is actively involved in promoting and teaching Indian classical arts in New Jersey.
