Summary

Accel was founded by Arthur Patterson and Jim Swartz in 1989, and has grown to become a global venture capital investor with a widespread portfolio. The US-fund is headquartered in Palo Alto, California; but the firm also has operating funds in London, India, and China.

In March 2016, Accel raised $2bn, $500m of which was for an early stage venture fund and the additional $1.5bn for growth investments. In the same year it also raised its fifth India-focused fund – the Accel India Fund V, which totaled $450m. The firm also raised their fifth London fund in the same year, the $500m valued Accel London V. Since 2005, Accel has raised nearly $2bn in funds for London investment.
