Balderton Capital is a firm that seeks to make growth capital investments in Europe’s leading entrepreneurs.

The firm has made several investments into FinTech thus far, the most recent being a $37.4m Series C investment into London-based investment management company Nutmeg, which came after Balderton made a flurry of investments into the FinTech space since mid-2015. This mirrors Balderton partner Rob Moffat’s sentiment for the industry, where he highlights it as a key investment opportunity, saying FinTech is “an enormous space – and only a handful of startups have made an impact so far”.

The firm has also raised multiple funds to invest with over the years, which total over $2bn. Their most recent fund was in 2014 when the firm closed their fifth European fund, a Series A venture fund of $305m to be used for investment in European technology startups.

The firm was founded in 2000 as Benchmark Capital before becoming fully independent as Balderton Capital in 2007.
