E-sports crowdfunding platform Smash.gg has reportedly received $11m in its Series A funding round.
Among the investors were Spark Capital, Accel, Horizons, Lowercase Capital and various angel investors, according to various media reports.
The company helps connect tournament organisers with general users so they are able to create a video game tournament. Through the platform people can set up a tournament and then get donations from the public to fund the event, in return for various rewards.
Smash.gg also takes care of payments received from sale of tickets, registrations, merchandise and donations.
The funding round will allow the company to expand, with a new office in Denver set to open, according to the reports.
This investment brings the company’s total capital received to around £14m, with the company having received a $3m investment last year.
