Impact Health raises $13m and changes name

InsurTech platform Impact health has raised $13m for its Series A and changed its name to JOANY.

The funding round was led by Techstars Ventures and Foundary Group.

JOANY uses machine learning to help make understanding, buying and using online health insurance easier and more transparent. The free platform helps users to enrol in the best insurance plan, gain access to a doctor network, help with surprise medical bills and the ability to check what is covered by current plans.

Currently the platform serves over 90,000 customers across the US, with it increasing each day, according to the company.

The change of name is accompanied by a new website, logo and advertising campaign, ‘Everyone Deserves Healthcare.’

JOANY co-founder and CEO Christine Carrillo said, “We wanted a name that would further personify our mission to make healthcare more human. A world-class customer experience is at the centre of everything we do and our new name is inspired by the heroes in all of our lives – the people who go far out of their way to help those who need it most, no matter the challenge.”
