Early-stage investor Sure Ventures has launched its debut fund, FinTech Global can reveal.

It is unclear how much the firm is targeting, with no goal or investors registered on a filing with the SEC.

The Silicon Valley-based firm will target early-stage InsurTech companies, but the amount of capital it will provide in each deal is also unclear.

Sure is led by Gopinath Rangan, the co-founder of INSEAD Angels and an advisor with Village Capital.

This vehicle joins a batch of InsurTech focused funds that have closed during recent months. Aquiline closed its debut Technology Growth Fund on $190m, with the firm looking to invest around a third of capital into the InsurTech space.

State Auto Labs and MarketScout have also closed investment vehicles to back InsurTech opportunities – both of funds have $25m available to deploy.

InsurTech has seen a lot of deal activity in the past couple of months. Earlier this week UK-based Wrisk closed a £3m funding round only a month after it had picked up £500,000 in a crowd funding platform. Fellow UK InsurTech platform Canopy has also just closed a funding round just a month after its previous. The company secured an undisclosed amount from Round Hill Capital.

Last year the InsurTech sector was dominated by the North America market, with it responsible for more than $88 per cent of capital deployed to the area.
