Bookkeeping platform Pilot closes $15m Series A led by Index

Bookkeeping platform Pilot has closed a $15m Series A funding round led by Index Ventures.

The company angel investors include Stripe Patrick and John Collison, Dropbox Drew Houston, Google Cloud Diane Greene, Frederic Kerrest, Hans Robertson, Adam DAngelo, Paul English, Howard Lerman, Joshua Reeves, Tien Tzuo, and others.

San Francisco-based Pilot, which is currently in its beta, is a bookkeeping software developer that handles a client process through both technology and an expert bookkeeper. Utilising both these methods helps to improve accuracy and efficiency for bookkeeping by offering transactions to be consistently categorised and a person to help give answers if any questions arise.

The software automates various bookkeeping processes removing the need for a client to send over reports from credit card processors, instead, the platform can download it by itself.

There are over 150 companies testing the service including OpenAI, Bannerman, Scale, and /dev/color, among others.

Earlier in the week, Index Ventures made a $20m investment in to Capitolis as part of its $29m Series A funding round. The company designs products and services to address the capital markets constraints, initially focusing on the equities and foreign exchange.

There have already been a couple of bookkeeping platforms to close funding this year. Earlier in the year, Bench picked up an $18m Series B-1 led by iNovia Capital. The company is a Canadian bookkeeping automation platform to help small businesses to simplify their processes such as bank statements and categorising transactions.
