Drive with Belron, an innovation lab, has held the demo day for the three startups in the latest program, which has a £200,000 prize.
The incubator is supported by investor and innovation partner L Marks, and has run for 10 weeks. This year’s cohort consisted of three AI startups which can help Belron strengthen its work supporting insurers and customers managing repair claims, and call centre interactions.
This is the third iteration of the Drive with Belron innovation lab.
The three companies in the program are hail damage assessment app Soft Edge, insurance claims platform RightIndem, and coice-based customer interaction AI Bonobo.
Poland-based Soft Edge use AI technology to detect the damage of hail on vehicles, aiming to accelerate claim times for customers. The app is able to assess the size and location of damage in a quicker manner than traditional measures, and is able to better judge the scale of the damage and costs for repair.
UK-based RightIndem is an insurance claims solution that aims to simplify the process. Users are able to put claims through on an insurer’s website by themselves, helping them to understand the process. The solution is able to detect any fraudulent attempts and also gives insurers richer information on claims at a quicker rate, as users give more information and images of the damage upfront.
Through the use of AI, Bonobo analyses all voice-based customer interactions and transforms them into actionable insights and segments. By doing this, companies are able to create more personalised experiences to boost customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Belron chief information and digital officer Nick Burton said, “This year’s cohort have really challenged our Belron teams to embrace innovation. We constantly look to improve the experience of our service for our customers and this year’s startups have really helped tackle some of those needs.
“The purpose of the programme is to help our people understand how different approaches and ways of working can help us be better, and the curiosity that has been ignited this year shows how well working with startups helps do this.”
