Personal finance platform LearnLux has reportedly raised $400,000 after winning Sound Ventures’ Perfect Pitch.
Originally, the winner was going to win a $100,000 investment; however, Ashton Kutcher and the Sound Ventures team decided to double the amount and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff invested an extra $200,000, according to a report by CNBC.
The five finalists attended an event in Austin, where they were judged by a panel formed of Sound Ventures co-founders Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary, actor Matthew McConaughey, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, StyleSeat CEO Melody McCloskey, and VaynerMedia founder Gary Vaynerchuk.
Learnlux is an educational platform that helps consumers to boost their financial future. The platform helps to teach users about basic banking, retirement planning, insurance, building credit, and investing. The free-to-use application also helps to compare different accounts to ensure the user receives what they need, from student loans, to credit cards, and more.
The other four finalists included, Jane.ai, which is an AI powered application that makes all of a business’ information accessible through chat messaging. Daymaker, which supports children donating to other children that are in need, VR and AR advertising platform Omnivirt and IssueVoter, a service that lets users get updates on bills going through congress.
Last year, Ashton Kutcher took part in the $25m Series A funding round in to public finance startup Neighbourly. The company modernises public financing by connecting borrowing communities with investors to give cities to easily issue debt and support people investing in their cities.
Earlier in the week, Addelshaw Goddard named the six new FinTech companies to join its 2018 ‘AG Elevate programme. The startups include Lendable, Halotrade, Airtime Rewards, Nivo, Trezeo and Worapay.
