Savings, micro-investment app developer Stash gets more VC money

Consumer savings and micro-investment app developer Stash has picked up a $65m funding round from backers including Union Square Ventures and Breyer Capital.

Both firms are already backers of Stash. The latest round was led by an unnamed institutional investor.

Stash currently helps more than two million users to help save and make small investments of as little as $5 through its mobile app.

The company teamed up with Green Dot Corp’s banking subsidiary last summer to provide a home for its customers accounts, meaning they are covered by US FDIC insurance.

Stash previously picked up a $37.5m Series D round led by Union Square Ventures in February last year.

Other participants in that round included Breyer Capital, Coatue Management, Entree Capital, Goodwater Capital and Valar Ventures.

In 2017 Union Square took part in the $18.5m Series B funding round for insurance support solution CoverWallet.
