MeReal Biometrics has launched the latest iteration of its biometrics payment card which is now compatible with more payment and access devices than any other card, it claims.
This new card, called the Keyper, is Java Card compliant which means any existing smart cards in the market which use Java programming can easily upgrade to a fingerprint card by transferring their applications to the Keyper. Programs running payment wallets, credit cards, cryptos and public key infrastructure handling digital certificates and encryption can be relocated to the Keyper card.
Keyper can enable secure transactions through contact or contactless and if these are not possible, it can even complete the payment via sound waves. An audio transaction can be completed through the in-built acoustic solution which emits a unique one-time password to the payment device.
The card can be used with Android and iOS smartphones, any telephone line, on tablets, laptops, PCs and any other type of smart card reader.
Additionally, the Keyper card has added a new tamper resistant chip which validates the user and information and supports confidential data exchange between the card and external devices. Keyper runs on batteries and need to be charged once a quarter.
The new card solution is compliance with FIDO (Fast Identity Online) and MeReal Biometrics has joined the FIDO Alliance, an open industry association supporting the development of authentication standards.
Keyper is also compliant with PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) and has similarly joined the Hong Kong PKI Forum to support the use of PKI products and services.
MeReal Biometrics CEO Philippe Blot said, “The Keyper places MeReal Biometrics in a league of its own. There truly is no other payment or access card, let alone a fingerprint protected card, that can be used whenever and wherever you need it in every industry”.
