Clerkie, an AI-powered financial advisor, has launched its app on iPhone following the close of a $2m seed funding round.
Flourish, a FinTech-focused investment division of The Omidyar Group, led the investment. A number of unnamed angel investors also contributed to the round.
With the new funds, Clerkie hopes to scale its financial skills and make the platform available to Android users. Additionally, the company is looking to increase its third-party integrations so it can grow the automation of tasks the AI can perform.
Clerkie aims to fill the gap of financial advice for middle-class Americans and achieves this by combining financial advice with one-click automation to simplify action. Its AI takes a holistic view of a person’s finances and automates and manages recommended financial tasks.
The app also integrates with various third parties in order to perform transactional tasks on the user’s behalf. This includes paying a phone bill, updating account information, moving a payment due date to better suit income cycles, changing 401K investment options to optimize gains, and more.
To begin, a user connects their bills and financial accounts. Once Clerkie has access to the user’s information, the AI can answer any questions around finances and make recommendations to meet financial goals.
Flourish managing partner Emmalyn Shaw said, “The idea that anyone can have free access to expert knowledge from a top advisor to guide their decisions based on their particular financial circumstance and goals is a powerful proposition-that is Clerkie’s promise,”
“Clerkie’s sophisticated AI deeply understands its users’ lifestyles to help them better navigate financial decision-making, perform tasks on their behalf, and, most importantly, anticipate potential issues and problem-solve before they derail people’s lives.”
Theapplication is free to download on Apple devices.
