Ontnomio, a provider of automotive data services, has partnered with car manufacturer Daimler for the creation of new services.
These new offerings, which will meet international data privacy regulations, will include a pay-as-you-drive insurance scheme, on-demand fuelling, and smart electric vehicle charging, among others.
The two companies will enable their customers to be in control of their data via a mobile app, with the ability to revoke any privilege.
Ontnomio is a connected car data platform which lets consumers access more personalised services, and convenient road experiences, the company claims. Its solution secures, normalises, aggregates and enriches automotive data and transforms this into services such as energy usage insights, insurance, real-time weather updates, and others.
The company operates via a neutral server, which ensures personal data is only shared with third-parties once a consumer has given consent.
Neutral Server has been live with Mercedes-Benz data since late last year and gives the company access to information including fuel status, electric vehicle battery levels and estimated ranges, vehicle odometer reading, among a variety of other details.
Otonomo CEO Ben Volkow said, “Mercedes-Benz and Otonomo share the same vision and values when it comes to delighting customers while protecting their data. Together with Daimler, our solution is bringing the neutral server concept to life.â€
