Despite the breakup with Barclays, Coinbase is still trading in the UK

The American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase parted ways with its UK banking partner Barclays in August. However, it is now back trading in Britain.

This is due to Coinbase now being a client of ClearBank, a new lender, according to person familiar with the matter who spoke with Bloomberg. This partnership enables Coinbase to once again tap into the UK’s faster payments system as Clearbank is a direct participant in it.

In other words: Coinbase customer can once again conduct almost instantaneous transactions between their British banking accounts and their Coinbase wallets.

The news comes after the Barclays breakup caused rumours to spread saying Santander, the bank, had blocked Coinbase payments. Speaking with FinTech Global at the time, Santander denied that it had blocked Coinbase payments.
