Swedish sites unable to sell stuff online as e-commerce platform Litium fails to provide services

Electricity outage in Stockholm could have caused millions of lost revenues for Swedish online shops.

Several e-commerce sites in Sweden suddenly became unavailable on Monday November 18 when Litium’s, the e-commerce platform, services went down.

Among the affected companies are baby-shopping site Jollyroom, tech vendor Teknikmagasinet and beauty shop Eleven, according to Breakit.

“It’s a small industry and some customers may wait until the site is up to place an order, others won’t,” Ole Sauar, CEO and founder of Jollyroom told Breakit. “There are probably going to be a couple of millions lost in sales.”

The failure to provide services were reportedly caused by an electricity outage on Monday afternoon. Litium has stated that all services are currently running as they should and that it will investigate what actually happened to cause the service snafu.
