Onfido has expanded its partnership with bunq and will now supply the challenger bank with a user re-authentication service.
bunq customers make use of Onfido’s verification technology when creating an account, only needing to take a video selfie and a photo of their government-issued ID on their smartphones. The technology verifies the user and is capable of detecting any fraudulent documents or spoofing attempts.
After the new partnership, bunq will also have access to Onfido for its re-authentication solution which is used when users want to reset their passwords and resolve account lockouts.
When there are high risks detected around a customer account, the user can simply authenticate themselves by taking a selfie, as opposed to going through lengthy identity checks.
Onfido CEO and co-founder Husayn Kassai said, “We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with bunq, especially on re-authenticating their users over multiple time-periods when needed, in order to detect and prevent fraudulent attempts while enabling the business to quickly scale.
“bunq shares our ethos of putting identity back in the hands of customers by delivering a much more secure and convenient way to provide access to online services.”
Bunq recently released its new green card, a pro-environment payment card which will see one tree planted for every €100 spent by the cardholder.
