Samsung has strengthened its hold of the African market by signing up South African financial services group Nedbank as its latest Samsung Pay partner.
Having originally launched its mobile payment app in 2018, Samsung announced at the Samsung Unpacked 2020 event that Nedbank has now joined its growing network of partners, allowing the bank’s customers to make use of the service for the first time.
Samsung Pay is now estimated to be able to go over 70% coverage of all the bank cards in South Africa.
In October 2019, Finablr, the payments platform, and Samsung Electronics America have joined forces to create a new money transfer function on Samsung Pay. The new money transfer service would empower users to make secure cross-border payments to 47 countries.
