Having just finished a six-year stint as finance director and head of European pricing at PayPal, Scott Weller has now joined Curve as the FinTech’s first CFO and its latest high-profile hire.
In his new role, Weller will help the banking platform drive its strategic finance agenda as the company continues its rapid expansion.
“I’m so excited to join Curve at this inflection point in the company’s growth journey,” Weller said. “Curve has established a unique position in the payments space as the first fintech to develop a digital experience that runs ‘over-the-top’ of customers’ fragmented banking relationships and spending use cases. We are solving difficult challenges through real innovation and we have assembled a formidable team to realise Curve’s full potential.”
At PayPal, as one of the first members of its strategic finance function, Weller is said to have played a pivotal role in advancing next-generation business development initiatives and PayPal’s separation from eBay in 2015.
In 2017, Scott relocated to Europe to build PayPal’s pricing strategy organisation across its Europe, Middle East and Africa markets.
He has also clocked up time working BlackRock’s Private Equity group focused on joint-venture acquisitions in North America, later relocating to Japan to expand BlackRock’s presence in APAC. ns rapidly increases.
“We are delighted to welcome Scott to complement one of the best leadership teams in European fintech” said Shachar Bialick, founder and CEO of Curve. “Scott’s experience taking teams and businesses like ours to the next level, in addition to his unique knowledge of the payments landscape, make him the ideal candidate to lead our finance function and advance Curve’s mission to converge the fragmented world of money, leading our customers to a healthier financial life.”
The recruitment of Weller is the latest in a string of high-profile hires made by Curve. The banking platform announced in April that it had hired Hannah Nixon, the former CEO of the UK Payment Systems Regulator, to tap into her knowledge on regulatory activities and relationships.
Curve also recently recruited Eyal Goldberg as vice president of machine learning and Amanda Orson as vice president and head of North America.
