Vala Health, an online doctor consultation service, has teamed up with InsurTech company Smart Cover Insurance to offer new health plans.
Policyholders of Smart Cover will gain access to Vala’s medical network, with the aim of helping them stay healthy, rather than treating them when they get ill.
Vala CEO Pete Trainor said, “What we’ve seen this year with Covid, is that most people in the U.K. live in a ‘health cover vacuum’ where there is just a handful of expensive health insurance options that cost more than they can afford. It means many forego coverage altogether.
“When we first met with the Smart-Cover leadership in the summer it became clear straight-away that they were aiming to offer health-support to the biggest possible audience, at a price that isn’t ridiculous, and for the communities who need it the most.”
This partnership comes ahead of new product launches three new product updates. One of these updates will be around diet, midwifery and Covid-19 rapid antigen tests available.
Smart Cover is also launching a new service, a home emergency app, which will enable policyholders to get access to G.P. consultation at their homes.
