F10 has partnered with New Energy Nexus to launch a green and climate FinTech programme to decarbonise the financial service sector and boost sustainable FinTech startups.
Under the partnership, New Energy Nexus will support startup selection, mentorship, programming, networking and investment for the climate FinTech program.
Highlighting the importance of a sustainable FinTech industry, climate FinTech lead at New Energy Nexus Aaron McCreary said, “The intersection of digital financial technology and the climate emergency is real. Climate FinTech can help to make net-zero pathways and clean energy more accessible, measurable, and bankable.”
McCreary added, “[This convergence will enable] both individuals and corporates to save, spend, lend, and invest in ways which put the planet first.”
The incubator-accelerator will keep the application window for F10 Zurich Incubation Batch VII open until 9 March 2021 wherein green and climate FinTech, InsurTech, RegTech and DeepTech startups will benefit from up to CHF 15,000 of expense coverage along with CHF 150,000 in funding.
Additionally, they will also get mentorship around subjects such as ESG, carbon and energy problem-solving in the FinTech space. Alongside exposure to FinTech corporates interested in firms dedicated to carbon neutrality, chosen startups will get opportunities to network with a host of FinTech and climate tech VC and angel investors.
The climate FinTech programme will accompany F10’s existing core banking and insurance curriculum.
While numerous corporates are pledging to achieve net-zero emissions, the FinTech ecosystem specifically has the ability to disrupt and reach the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, McCreary stated.
