Trellix, an extended detection and response (XDR) solutions provider, has been officially launched as a result of the merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye.
The launch was announced by private equity company Symphony Technology Group. In March 2021, McAfee’s enterprise business was sold to a consortium headed by STG in a $4bn agreement. Later in the year, STG acquired FireEye for $1.2bn.
According to Security Week, STG stated in October that McAfee Enterprise and FireEye Products would merge into a single entity comprising over 40,000 customers, 5,000 employees and almost $2bn in annual revenue.
STG has remarked that Trellix is designed to accelerate the effectiveness of security operations and includes endpoint, cloud, collaboration, data and user, application and infrastructure security capabilities.
The private equity giant stated it plans to launch the McAfee Enterprise Secure Service Edge portfolio as a separate business later this quarter. SSE will include cloud access security broker, secure web gateway and zero-trust network access.
STG commented, “The new name evokes the structure of a trellis, a strong and safe framework used to support structured growth of climbing plants and trees. Trellix will deliver its brand promise to build resilient and confident organisations through living security—security technology that learns and adapts to protect operations from the most advanced threat actors.”
