IDEX Biometrics has teamed up with augmented identity developer IDEMIA to support the launch of Sweden’s first biometric card.
The card will be for Rocker, a Swedish challenger bank.
IDEX stated the card is certified by Visa and Mastercard and will work with any payment terminal. The card authorises payments through a fingerprint sensor embedded into the card.
On the card, biometric data is securely saved on the chip and is never removed.
Speaking on the deal, Rocker VP Save & Spend Andreas Norberg said, “As a challenger bank, we are constantly testing new technology to develop smarter financial services that are easier to use and that help our customers improve their everyday financial lives. Launching Rocker Touch is part of our strategy to offer smart and secure payment solutions across platforms, whether you wish to pay with your mobile, a card or with a transfer.”
IDEX recently partnered with Union Smart Card to deploy its services in China. As part of the deal, IDEX deploys its fingerprint authentication technology used to secure Union’s Wallet Visual Payment Card, which was created by six major banks in China.
