Tiger Global Management stars as the most active FinTech investor in India in Q1 2022

• In the first quarter of 2022 there were just under 400 FinTech investors in India with Tiger Global Management, an American investment firm, being the most active with eight transactions in total. During the opening quarter Tiger Global participated in funding rounds ranging from $25m to $400m and a report in India speculated that Tiger Global plans to invest $3bn in Indian start-ups from a $6.7bn venture fund created in April 2021.
• Indian FinTech funding in 2022 is set to beat last year’s levels by 31% reaching $12.4bn in total. Deal activity is also expected to rise 8% setting a new record for the country with 512 deals in total. Marketplace Lending continued as the most dominant FinTech sector in Q1 2022 accounting for 23% of deal activity.
