Monzo has unveiled a new feature that allows users to donate directly to one of its eight chosen charities either on a one-off payment or regular basis.
Monzo users are able to find a list of charities in the Payments tab in the app, or through the ‘Donate to charity’ button on their home screen. Any donations made will show in the ‘charity’ category of trends and recurring donations will show in their upcoming scheduled payments.
There is no minimum amount to donate with no pressure required to support one of the charities if users are not in a position to. The company highlighted that 100% of a donation goes to the chosen charity of the user.
Monzo said, “We don’t earn anything or take any fees from your donations. Unfortunately, we can’t add gift aid at the moment, so we’ve given you the option to donate directly through each charity’s website and add gift aid as well.”
The chosen charities are the Trussell Trust, GiveDirectly, MyBnk, Sickle Cell Society, Stonewall Housing, Surviving Economic Abuse and Teenage Cancer Trust.
