Medical care and travel startup Air Doctor has partnered with global travel InsurTech Ok Away.
Founded by Jenny Cohen Derfler, Efrat Sagi Ofir, Yam Derfler and Yegor Kurbachev, Air Doctor provides travellers with peace of mind when they are faced with a medical emergency while travelling.
Rather than trying to figure out where your nearest doctor or local hospital is in an unfamiliar place, possibly in an unfamiliar language too, the travel InsurTech provides a stress-free way of accessing medical care abroad.
Launched in 2021, Ok Away is a B2C mobile SaaS app which allows family and friends to connect better while apart through sharing mapped location, address, local time, history, itinerary arrivals, departures and failure to arrive, place alerts with safety and travel warnings.
The partnership between the two companies will allow customers to access local doctors who speak their language via a link on the Ok Away app, taking them directly to Air Doctors’ platform.
Ok Away operates an e-commerce platform for travel safety products through the app, with discussions to now extend purchase through interested airport retail outlets.
The app has also broadened its social impact footprint, incorporating a world first platform to identify missing travellers and people, alerting users within a 350km radius of where the person went missing.
Jenny Cohen Derfler, CEO, and founder of Air Doctor, said, “We are happy about teaming up with Ok Away as Air Doctor’s mission is to help people around the world when they need quality medical treatment. While we’re already operating in 75 countries, we’re always working to expand our network.”
Veronica Hey, Ok Away, founder & CEO added, “We are really excited by our partnership with Air Doctor. Our shared vision is to provide travellers with a safer and more connected travel experience.”
Air Doctor recently raised $20m in a funding led by Lightspeed Ventures to enter its next phase of growth.
