Cambodian financial institution ABA Bank has become the first bank in the country to launch an instant card issuance kiosk, through a partnership with Compass Plus Technologies.
The kiosk enables the issuance of international debit cards (Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay) and local Cambodian Shared Switch (CSS) cards via self-service kiosks. It claims the customer can receive the card on the spot in under two minutes.
ABA Bank’s mission is to offer the best banking experience to customers, which is why is sought to build and release these kiosks, it said. After a successful pilot, the bank has released 90 instant card issuance kiosks that are in operation in over 80 branches.
Since the launch of the kiosks, ABA has helped issue 191,000 debit cards.
ABA Bank chief card and e-payment officer Sanzhar Abdullayev said, “We’re delighted to become the first bank in Cambodia to offer instant card issuance via self-service kiosks to our customers.
“We are always looking for ways to introduce innovative services that improve customer experience. Compass Plus Technologies has proven to be a reliable partner during the last 14 years, helping us to deliver exciting new projects, and we look forward to what the future will bring.”
Earlier in the year, Cambodia unveiled a code of conduct for banks and financial institutions with the aim of promoting more effective and responsible banking and financial practices.
