Sure, an InsurTech that aims to unlock the potential of digital insurance, has partnered with FinTech Esusu, to offer renters insurance.

Esusu is a financial technology company leveraging rent reporting for credit building. The company reports on-time rent payments to the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Transunion, and Experian) to establish and boost credit scores for residents.

The partnership will see Esusu use Sure’s digital insurance infrastructure to provide renters insurance to the millions of Americans that the company said are “shut out of the financial system.”

Through the partnership, Sure is deploying its technology to help empower better financial outcomes for the underserved communities Esusu supports.

The Esusu Renters Marketplace was purpose-built to unlock the resources that make renting easier with a hand-picked list of services and programs focused on financial support and well-being.

Collaborating with Sure, Esusu said it can now offer renters a frictionless, end-to-end digital experience for renters insurance through Sure as they work to achieve a stronger financial future.

Wayne Slavin, co-founder and CEO of Sure, said, “Esusu is the epitome of a mission-driven company, helping those that are underserved in the financial system build financial stability through opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have.

“Using Sure’s embedded insurance APIs, Esusu is now able to seamlessly add renters insurance to its suite of services available to underserved communities who want to achieve financial wellness. We are proud to support Esusu’s mission and excited to see how many lives we can touch through our partnership.”

Earlier this year, Assurant, a global business services company that supports, protects and connects major consumer purchases, partnered with Avenue5 Residential to provide renters insurance.

The multi-year contract extension with the property management services firm will upgrade the existing Point of Lease (POL) product to Assurant’s turnkey Cover360 option, giving property management companies the potential to significantly increase participation in their renters insurance programme and eliminate coverage gaps.
