Cisco has announced its intent to acquire cloud security software firm Lightspin Technologies in a deal valued around $200-250m.

Lightspin offers a holistic solution that provides end-to-end cloud security posture management across cloud-native resources. The company uses graph-based technology to deliver key context, prioritization, and remediation recommendations.

Cisco claims itself and Lightspin are aligned with a common goal to help customers modernize their cloud environments with end-to-end security and observability from build to runtime.

With the addition of Lightspin, Cisco customers will be able to identify, prioritize, and remediate critical cloud security risks without the hassle of extensive configuration requirements.

The Lightspin team has extensive technical expertise in cloud security, product development, and SaaS security products. The team’s experience supporting DevOps and DevSecOps with context and tooling will accelerate Cisco’s ability to deliver the solutions and support needed to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities across cloud applications and environments.

Cisco said, “Companies need total confidence that their most sensitive data are protected from security risks and unauthorized access. Cisco and Lightspin have a shared commitment to helping their customers secure their critical data, applications, and infrastructure across all environments.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the innovative team from Lightspin to Cisco. When the acquisition closes, they will join the Emerging Technologies & Incubation (ET&I) business as we advance new and emerging technologies that connect to Cisco’s mission of powering an inclusive future for all.”

Fourthline, a RegTech firm that provides AI-powered and compliant KYC and AML solutions, has recently bagged €50m from new and existing investors.
