Accenture has declared its intent to acquire Brazil-based sustainability consultancy, Green Domus Desenvolvimento Sustentável LTDA.

Green Domus is renowned for assisting clients to design and implement a spectrum of sustainability services, with a keen focus on measurable decarbonisation strategies.

Accenture’s move to acquire Green Domus is aimed at enhancing its Sustainability Services team. With only 7% of global companies on track to reach their net zero targets by 2050, clients are seeking innovative ways to hasten their net zero transitions. Although the financial specifics of the transaction have been kept under wraps, the benefits of this merger are clear.

Accenture, founded in 1989, is a giant in the professional services sector with a global footprint. It is renowned for providing a broad range of services and solutions in strategy, consulting, digital, technology, and operations. Green Domus, established in 2005 and headquartered in Brazil, is a respected player in the sustainability sector, offering decarbonisation strategy expertise. It has over two decades of industry experience and has bolstered its carbon measurement and net zero transition abilities across several sectors including natural resources, agriculture, consumer goods, and retail.

This acquisition will bring Accenture clients the opportunity to integrate carbon data and insights into their decision-making. It will be underpinned by Green Domus’ in-depth understanding of sustainability frameworks like Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), voluntary carbon credits, and emerging regulatory schemes such as the recently launched Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in the EU.

Latin America Sustainability Services lead for Accenture, Matthew Govier, emphasised the value of this acquisition, stating that Green Domus’ ability to measure carbon emissions data combined with Accenture’s advanced sustainability services will help their clients build resilient futures. He sees this merger as a crucial step towards transforming industries and creating a pathway for unlocking growth and more sustainable business models.

Green Domus CEO, Felipe Bottini, expressed his positive sentiments about the acquisition. He stressed Accenture’s commitment to sustainability as crucial for helping their clients manage disruption and increased regulatory compliance. He further mentioned that by joining forces with Accenture, Green Domus will utilise cutting-edge technologies to embed sustainability into long-lasting solutions addressing global challenges such as decarbonisation.

This acquisition of Green Domus forms part of Accenture’s broader strategy to strengthen its sustainability capabilities and create sustainable value and impact for its clients. This has been exemplified by its recent acquisitions, including Avieco, Carbon Intelligence, Greenfish, akzente, and Zestgroup. The acquisition of Green Domus is still subject to customary closing conditions.
