Sompo International, recognised globally as a leader in commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, recently announced its first foray into Canada with the inauguration of a new office in Toronto.
This substantial move forms part of the company’s ambitious global geographical expansion goals, enhancing its international presence and extending its insurance operations further.
Operating under Sompo Holdings, Sompo International, along with its consolidated subsidiaries, serves as a premier provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance services across the globe. With over 9,000 employees internationally, it has entities in more than 46 countries and garners over $38bn in Gross Written Premiums.
The company’s newly launched Canadian branch aims to offer domestic commercial and specialty lines risks in Canada. Not only that, but it also possesses the capability to place risks internationally for its Canadian clientele through its Multinational platform.
Leading the Canadian office is Rohan Dixon, who will serve as the president and chief executive officer, Commercial P&C Insurance, Canada. His role is pivotal in developing and driving the strategy for commercial insurance business across Canada.
Sompo International has built its strong reputation on the cornerstones of collaboration, portfolio diversity, and the provision of dynamic solutions for clients and brokers. Rohan Dixon, along with Melissa Plaxton, the newly appointed chief operating officer for Canada, is poised to offer a robust suite of services in the country by building an expert team of local underwriters and claims professionals.
