Biometric credit card reaches next level with SmartMetric's AI integration

SmartMetric, a leading innovator in FinTech, is on the cusp of a significant product release. Known for its advanced biometric credit card technology, the company is now enhancing its product offering by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the card’s electronics.

The rationale behind introducing AI into the biometric credit card is to transcend the typical functions of standard credit cards. SmartMetric recognises the vast potential of AI, combining it with biometrics to forge a revolutionary stride in credit card security and user applications.

SmartMetric’s primary offering is a premium biometric credit card. This product represents a new paradigm in credit card technology, integrating a dual-processor system to separate payment processing from cryptographic MCU. This MCU, also embedded within the card, stores the card holder’s fingerprint and performs computing functions such as storing and matching the user’s fingerprint on the card.

The AI-embedded biometric credit card promises to unlock a myriad of applications and real-time uses beyond regular credit card transactions. This embedded AI offers a technological leap by integrating AI directly into the card’s electronic systems. Unlike cloud-based AI that depends on remote computing resources, the embedded AI performs tasks locally, leading to increased speed and security.

Additional features of the SmartMetric biometric credit card include an advanced cryptographic MCU with IO ports, enabling the rapid innovation of new functions. A dedicated team of electronics and software engineers in Tel Aviv, Israel, renowned for their expertise, is focused on bringing this AI-enhanced solution to life.

SmartMetric’s President and CEO, Chaya Hendrick, expressed her excitement for the project. “Because we already use a separate advanced and powerful MCU with IO ports, we are able to now quickly innovate new functions into our biometric credit card such as embedding AI into our electronics platform,” Hendrick shared. In another statement, she added, “AI is touching all corners of our world and we are excited to be able to bring functional AI as an embedded solution into the credit card industry.”
