Sustainable investing stalwart Hiro Mizuno joins MSCI as special advisor

Investment data and research provider MSCI has welcomed on board Hiromichi Mizuno, the former CIO of Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).

He will serve as a Special Advisor to the CEO, with his sights set on issues related to climate change and sustainable investing.

MSCI is renowned for providing research and data on investment performance. The company’s mission is to aid investors by supplying them with crucial, data-driven insights. This enables investors to manoeuvre through the intricate investment landscape, understanding both the risks and opportunities.

Hiro Mizuno has made a significant name for himself in the investment industry. Previously serving as the Executive Managing Director and CIO of GPIF from 2015 to 2020, Mizuno has been a Special Envoy of U.N Secretary-General on Innovative Finance and Sustainable Investments since 2021. Before GPIF, he was a partner at Coller Capital, a private equity firm based in London.

Mizuno’s appointment at MSCI is a strategic move that will enhance the company’s sustainable investment strategies. Recognised as a trailblazer in the sustainable investment realm, he has been known for his significant contributions towards addressing climate change and fostering gender diversity through investment practices.

In his role at MSCI, Mizuno will offer strategic counsel, thought leadership, and industry engagement. This is part of the company’s objective to help investors navigate complex investment risks and opportunities, especially those associated with climate change and other long-term sustainability issues.
