Blackbullion, a financial wellbeing platform, has rolled out a free money management app designed to transform financial wellbeing for students.
The launch comes as students face an increasingly steep uphill battle with their finances. Rising costs of living are consistently impacting the student experience at university, making this app a timely solution for a pressing issue.
Blackbullion focuses on equipping students with the financial tools and education they need to navigate their university journey. Its platform offers a myriad of resources that help students budget, save and make informed financial decisions.
The new app aims to give students real-time insights into their spending patterns by linking up with their bank accounts through open banking technology. Personalised suggestions will help students identify areas where they can make significant savings, empowering them to manage their budgets more effectively.
Additional features include Money Monday, an interactive weekly check-in to help students maintain sustainable financial habits, thus minimising destructive behaviours like money-avoidance or obsessive money tracking. The app offers a Spending Calendar for an overview of term-time spending and Bullion rewards to incentivise healthy financial habits. Collecting “bullions” can lead to boosted emergency funds, cash prizes, and exclusive discounts.
Tailored specifically to the financial needs of students, the app factors in elements unique to the student financial experience, such as the one-time drop of student loans each term and term-time spending trends.
“We know just how much pressure finances put on students’ mental health – and how it impacts all parts of student life today. Our app is designed to help students feel less scared and overwhelmed about day-to-day money management,” says Vivi Friedgut, CEO and founder of Blackbullion.
She adds, “It puts students in charge of their finances, so they know they can make their next rent payment or have enough money for three healthy meals a day, enabling them to focus on their studies and enjoy their university experience.”
