Trips, a platform aimed at revolutionising the way content creators manage and monetise their intellectual property, has bagged $2.5m.
The startup, which offers innovative tools for creators to protect and leverage their copyrights as financial assets, has successfully closed a $2.5m pre-seed funding round. Leading the investment were Shima Capital, Animal Capital, Blackwood Ventures, Serafund, and Calligraphy Digital, with contributions from Blizzard, the Avalanche Ecosystem Fund.
At its core, Trips serves as a bridge between the digital provenance of copyright on the blockchain and the traditional financial ecosystem. This unique proposition gives creators unprecedented control over their intellectual property, allowing them to establish and authenticate their copyrights digitally. In addition, it provides the means to convert creative assets into financial assets through the company’s innovative platform.
The newly acquired capital will be directed towards enhancing the platform’s capabilities and expanding its reach. Trips is currently launching on the Avalanche Evergreen Subnet, utilising the network’s adaptability to meet the specific needs of content creators in terms of permissioning, privacy, and beyond.
Trips has also announced its intent to broaden its support beyond YouTube, with plans to integrate additional content platforms soon. This expansion is poised to reinforce Trips’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for creators in the digital age.
Marshall Sandman, Managing Partner at Animal Capital, underscored the significance of Trips’s mission in the context of the burgeoning creator economy. He highlighted the company’s potential impact on a demographic that is expected to expand dramatically in the coming years.
Trips CEO and Founder Michael Finkelstein emphasised the company’s dedication to content creators, “Creators lack access to capital to monetize their assets, grow their businesses and reach financial stability. Trips presents a novel pathway for content creators to harness their copyrights into a tangible financial resource,” he said. “Our commitment lies in empowering creators to effectively navigate the digital world by building great products that promote their success and ensure the preservation of their creative ownership.”
With this pre-seed round, Trips begins its journey to reshape the content creation landscape, paving the way for creators to safeguard and profit from their intellectual property like never before.
