American Express has partnered with OVO, an energy company in the UK, to offer customers a more straightforward way to pay their energy bills.
By leveraging American Express’s ‘Pay with Bank transfer’ system, OVO’s customers can now seamlessly pay their bills directly from their bank accounts, bypassing the need to use credit or debit cards.
American Express introduces ‘Pay with Bank transfer,’ an innovative online debit product enabling consumers to purchase goods and services directly from their bank account. This product is accessible to all, regardless of whether they are American Express Cardmembers. OVO, a key player in the UK energy sector, provides energy services to millions and is now expanding its payment options through this collaboration.
This new partnership focuses on simplifying bill payments for OVO’s customers, particularly those who pay monthly or purchase renewable products. ‘Pay with Bank transfer’ minimizes errors in online payments by eliminating the need for entering card details or reference numbers, and it incorporates bank-level security for transactions.
American Express Vice President, International Open Banking Payments, Holly Coventry said, “We’re delighted to announce OVO as our first partner in the utilities sector. Pay with Bank transfer lends itself very well to bill payments as it’s seamless, secure and easy to use. We know that missed and unallocated payments cause problems for both customers and utilities providers, and we hope that this partnership helps to address these pain points, giving customers greater visibility and control when paying their utility bills..”
