Dapple Security, a pioneering cybersecurity startup, has raised $2.3m in a pre-seed funding round, marking a crucial step in its mission to introduce a novel passwordless solution utilising biometrics to combat cyber threats.
The funding round was led by First In, a firm renowned for its commitment to investing in companies founded by veterans of the Military and Intelligence Community. Dapple Security also garnered support from ex/ante, Access Ventures, and Techstars, all of which have expressed strong belief in Dapple’s vision and potential to significantly impact the cybersecurity domain.
Dapple Security stands out in the cybersecurity field with its unique proposition of a passwordless biometric solution. Founded by Gadalia Montoya Weinberg O’Bryan, a former cryptographer at the National Security Agency, Dapple aims to address the prevalent issue of cybercrime through its revolutionary technology. By creating a system that generates revocable, reproducible digital credentials without the need to store biometric data, Dapple provides a secure and privacy-preserving alternative to traditional password-based security measures.
The company’s innovative technology is designed to reproduce confidential biometric and passkey data on demand across multiple devices, eliminating the need to store sensitive credentials. This approach not only enhances security but also respects users’ privacy and digital sovereignty. With cybercrime costs projected to reach $9.5 trillion in 2024, according to Cybersecurity Ventures, Dapple’s solution is timely and has the potential to make a significant impact in the fight against digital threats.
The new funding will be instrumental in Dapple’s plans to launch its services in 2024, focusing on providing cybersecurity solutions for small and mid-sized businesses—a sector often neglected and vulnerable to cyber attacks. Dapple’s passwordless biometric technology offers a secure and user-friendly alternative to traditional passwords, allowing for seamless and safe authentication across multiple devices.
