Nexus Underwriting, a specialty managing general agent, has appointed Steve Willett as its new Development Head.

In his role, Willett will focus on expanding the global footprint and broking base of the company’s financial lines team, along with overseeing the Nexus Lloyd’s box offering, according to Insurance Business Mag.

Formerly serving as the Financial Lines Head at Barents Re, Willett is set to lead the next phase of the company’s journey. With his extensive background in the insurance industry, particularly in financial lines, he is well-positioned to drive growth and diversification within Nexus Underwriting’s portfolio.

His experience and expertise will be instrumental in expanding the company’s reach and exploring new opportunities in different territories.

D&O/FI (directors and officers / financial institutions) managing director Jamie Ricketts stated, “Steve is a respected underwriter who I’ve known for many years as a significant presence in this market, and I’m delighted to have him on our team.

“Historically, our focus within directors, officers, and financial institutions has focussed towards UK-centric territories and the non-banking sectors of the FI world. Steve’s experience and knowledge of the banking sector and alternative territories – including Latin America and the Caribbean – will open up new opportunities and distribution channels for us.”

The move reflects Nexus Underwriting’s strategic focus on strengthening its leadership team and accelerating its growth trajectory.

By tapping into Willett’s knowledge and network within the insurance market, Nexus aims to enhance its competitive edge and capture new market segments.

Nexus operates as a specialty managing general agent, providing tailored insurance solutions to various sectors.

With a focus on financial lines, the company aims to offer comprehensive coverage and risk management services to its clients worldwide. The Nexus Lloyd’s box offering enhances the company’s capabilities in underwriting and distribution within the Lloyd’s market.

Speaking on his appointment, Willett added, “I’m excited to be joining the team at Nexus, a highly respected global business in our market. I’m looking forward to leading the next phase of their journey and diversify the portfolio following the Brown & Brown acquisition.”
