Akamai strengthens cybersecurity arsenal through Noname acquisition

Akamai Technologies, a cloud firm known for powering and safeguarding online activities, has announced its intent to acquire Noname Security.

The acquisition aims to bolster Akamai’s API Security solution, addressing the escalating demand for robust API protection amidst the expanding API landscape. The deal is valued at approximately $450 million, reflecting Akamai’s commitment to fortifying its cybersecurity offerings.

A prominent player in cloud services, Akamai empowers and protects online activities worldwide. With a focus on enhancing digital experiences, Akamai offers solutions spanning content delivery, web and mobile performance, security, and more.

A top API security vendor renowned for its expertise in safeguarding application programming interfaces (APIs), Noname Security’s solutions play a pivotal role in mitigating API-related risks. The company’s offerings are poised to augment Akamai’s existing API Security solution, providing comprehensive protection across diverse environments.

As part of the acquisition, Akamai anticipates gaining access to Noname’s sales and marketing resources, channel partnerships, and alliance relationships, thereby expanding its reach and market presence. The integration of Noname’s technology is expected to enhance Akamai’s API security suite, offering customers unparalleled protection against emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
