BBVA, a prominent Spanish banking group, has signed a deal with OpenAI to implement ChatGPT across its workforce.

BBVA, a prominent Spanish banking group, has signed a deal with OpenAI to implement ChatGPT across its workforce.

The initiative will see the deployment of 3000 ChatGPT Enterprise licenses to BBVA employees, marking a significant effort to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and foster innovation within the organisation, according to Finextra.

OpenAI will provide training and continuous updates for its large language models, the foundational technology behind ChatGPT, as part of the agreement.

BBVA is currently distributing licenses to its central services in Spain, with plans to extend the rollout to other key countries within the group.

Mandatory training sessions will accompany the setup of each account, ensuring that employees across all areas and departments have access to ChatGPT, facilitating collaboration on various projects.

In a recent development, BBVA organised a generative AI ‘DataRally’ internally, aimed at identifying and nurturing talent in utilising the language models that power ChatGPT.

Ricardo Martín Manjón, BBVA’s global head of data, commented, “We believe that generative AI, when used safely and responsibly, is a game-changer in how we support our customers in their decisions and offer personalised services. It also happens to stimulate creativity among our employees.”

Brad Lightcap, COO of OpenAI, expresses enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re excited to partner with BBVA, one of Europe’s top banks, to deliver the capabilities of ChatGPT Enterprise at scale. AI streamlines mundane tasks, boosting creativity, efficiency, and productivity.”

Overall, the alliance between BBVA and OpenAI underscores the growing importance of AI in the banking sector and highlights the potential for transformative impacts on operational processes and customer experiences.
