Workiva

Workiva, a global provider of assured integrated reporting solutions, has expanded its tech portfolio with the launch of Workiva Carbon.

This new addition enhances their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability Platform, enabling businesses to adhere to stringent global climate regulations effectively.

The development of Workiva Carbon is driven by the growing need for robust tools that support the requirements of global climate regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the SEC’s climate disclosure rules, and California’s climate-related acts. This product aims to simplify the management of net-zero targets that many organizations have voluntarily established to meet international guidelines and stakeholder demands for transparency.

Workiva, renowned for its leadership in integrated reporting, provides solutions that improve business transparency and compliance. Their platforms serve organizations worldwide, helping them maintain accuracy in financial reporting, governance, and sustainability efforts under various regulatory frameworks.

Workiva Carbon allows companies to measure real-time data from ERP platforms, accounting systems, and utility providers. It facilitates tracking of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across multiple scopes and locations. This system supports companies in creating comprehensive reports that align with both voluntary and mandated sustainability frameworks.

Beyond measurement, Workiva Carbon aids in managing and decarbonizing supply chains through supplier engagement surveys and science-based target setting. It also enhances collaboration across business functions by linking trusted data to essential business deliverables, ensuring consistency and reliability without the risks associated with manual processes.

The launch of Workiva Carbon incorporates technology and expertise from the recent acquisition of Sustain.Life, a company previously dedicated to carbon accounting and emissions reporting. This integration signifies a strategic enhancement of Workiva’s capabilities, further establishing its leadership in the ESG domain.

Workiva president and chief executive officer Julie Iskow said, “The launch of Workiva Carbon enhances Workiva’s established and leading ESG platform, positioning us to help businesses advance their sustainability efforts.

“Now our customers can streamline Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions tracking, set science-based targets, and meet stakeholder demands amidst the changing investor and regulatory landscape. Bringing these carbon capabilities into our platform highlights our unwavering commitment to providing our customers a comprehensive solution for Financial reporting, ESG, and GRC.”
