NatWest has launched its banking app on Apple Vision Pro, the tech giant’s innovative smart goggles that integrate digital content with the physical world to offer immersive experiences.
NatWest will be among the first banks globally to have its app available on VisionOS, Apple’s operating system for the Vision Pro, according to Finextra.
This system features a three-dimensional user interface controlled by a user’s eyes, hands, and voice.
Users can interact with apps using intuitive gestures such as looking at them, tapping their fingers to select, flicking their wrists to scroll, or utilising a virtual keyboard or dictation for typing.
To ensure compatibility with Vision Pro, the bank has optimised the app for eye tracking and implemented security enhancements to safeguard customer data on the new device.
Customers using the Apple headset will be able to check balances and credit scores, transfer funds between accounts, and manage direct debits, all within a visually engaging representation of their finances.
NatWest plans to leverage insights from the app’s usage on the new device to refine its digital features. Customers will also have access to the digital assistant Cora+, which employs generative AI for a more conversational and intuitive customer experience.
Wendy Redshaw, NatWest’s chief digital information officer, remarked, “It’s great to be a first-mover with such exciting new technology. It will be interesting to take learnings, understanding how customers use the app in this new technology to deal with their finances, and to understand how we can create bespoke propositions to serve them even better. It’s just one insight into how the future of banking could look in the future – watch this space.”
