Chuka Umunna takes charge of JPMorgan’s green economy and sustainable solutions

JPMorgan has promoted Chuka Umunna to Managing Director, Global Head of Sustainable Solutions, and EMEA Head of Green Economy Investment Banking.

According to ESG News, in this critical role, Umunna will oversee the bank’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment banking practices. His leadership is expected to advance sustainable solutions across JPMorgan’s client base and facilitate access to sustainability-focused capital in equity, debt, and private markets.

JPMorgan operates as a multinational banking entity, providing a wide array of financial services and solutions across the globe. The company’s operations encompass investment banking, asset management, private banking, and treasury services.

With its strong commitment to ESG principles, JPMorgan continues to integrate sustainable practices across its business operations and client solutions.

Chuka Umunna brings a rich and varied background to his new roles at JPMorgan. With over two decades of experience in law, politics, and finance, Umunna is well-equipped to lead the bank’s efforts in sustainable finance.

His responsibilities include overseeing global ESG and sustainability-related advisory services and coordinating the bank’s investment strategies for emerging green sectors within the EMEA region.

Prior to joining JPMorgan in April 2021, Umunna was the Global Co-Head of ESG at Edelman and served nearly a decade as the Member of Parliament for Streatham.

He has held several prestigious roles, including UK’s Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, and Skills, and has worked as a corporate employment lawyer.

Umunna’s career is marked by significant contributions to ESG and sustainability. His expertise is recognized in various publications where he provides insights on business and sustainability issues.

His appointment at JPMorgan is expected to bolster the bank’s commitment to sustainable finance, ensuring that it not only advises clients on ESG matters but also practices what it preaches.
