Google and GoHenry forge a new path for Kids’ financial literacy

Google has entered into a partnership with GoHenry by Acorns, an innovative FinTech company focused on financial education for children.

This collaboration brings together Google’s extensive tech expertise and GoHenry’s commitment to teaching financial responsibility to young users.

The partnership aims to integrate GoHenry’s financial education tools into Google’s wearable technology. This integration will advance Google’s Tap to Pay capabilities on its Fitbit Ace LTE devices, allowing kids under 13 years to manage money digitally with enhanced safety and responsibility.

Google is renowned for its wide range of digital products and services, including Google Wallet, which is now integrated with Fitbit’s child-friendly smartwatches. GoHenry, acquired by Acorns in 2023 and now known as GoHenry by Acorns in the U.S., specialises in financial education for children aged 6 to 18, offering tools and lessons designed to promote smart money management from a young age.

This collaboration allows children to use GoHenry debit cards with Google Wallet on Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatches. Parents can add money, set spending limits, and monitor transactions through a dedicated app, providing a practical platform for kids to learn about money handling.

The Fitbit Ace LTE, designed for children aged 7-12, not only functions as a digital wallet but also offers smartphone-like features including secure calling, messaging, and location sharing. This device enhances children’s daily activities with rewards and allows them to manage finances through real-world applications.

“GoHenry empowers kids growing up in a digital world to learn about and use money in a safe environment,” Acorns CEO Noah Kerner said. “Our collaboration with Google Wallet brings this to life on a wearable payment device, embodying our mission to make every kid smart with money and providing parents with more tools to nurture healthy habits in their kids.”

“We’re excited to collaborate with GoHenry to bring tap to pay capabilities to the Fitbit Ace LTE, giving parents a valuable tool to instill responsible spending habits and help kids gain confidence while they learn important money skills,” said Fitbit Ace LTE Product Lead Ben Greenwood.
