CaixaBank embarks on second phase of GalaxIA project to revolutionize AI deployment

CaixaBank has launched the second phase of its generative artificial intelligence project, known as the GalaxIA Project, aiming to further integrate AI across its entire operation.

This initiative marks a continuation of the successful GenIAl project, which significantly exceeded expectations by rapidly implementing AI-driven solutions that have transformed various internal processes and enhanced customer interactions.

The newly inaugurated phase involves over 100 specialists in AI and cloud-based projects, pooling their expertise to innovate and improve upon the foundation established by GenIAl. These professionals are drawn from CaixaBank’s extensive network, including key units and select subsidiaries, demonstrating the project’s broad organizational reach.

The GalaxIA Project builds on the accomplishments of GenIAl, which has been instrumental in identifying the tangible benefits and real costs associated with AI technologies. This initiative has not only introduced effective AI use cases but has also bolstered internal capabilities and deepened understanding of generative AI within the group.

Among the first to be scaled up in this phase are five pivotal AI applications: an employee assistant, Wall conversations with customers, code generation, a Contact Centre assistant, and Customer Service complaint management. These applications have demonstrated significant improvements in operational efficiency and customer service quality, showcasing the versatile applications of AI within the banking sector.

As the project progresses, new AI use cases are slated for development. These will focus not only on short-term enhancements in service quality and processing speeds but also on reshaping long-term business strategies and complex processes, such as those involved in customer mortgage operations.
