Sasai Money Transfer, a business of Cassava Technologies, has announced a partnership with Airtel Money, a leading mobile money service in Africa, to expand its innovative zero-fee remittance services to more markets across the continent.
The main goal of this partnership is to bring Sasai’s Zero Fees initiative, first launched in Zimbabwe, to a wider audience across Africa, according to FF News.
By working with Airtel Money, Sasai aims to make remittances more affordable for users in the United Kingdom and South Africa, starting with Uganda and soon expanding to other key markets like Ghana, Malawi, Nigeria, Kenya, and Zambia.
Sasai Money Transfer is committed to formalising remittance services across Africa, addressing the challenge of informal transfers, which often expose migrants to significant financial risks.
The company’s mission is to offer a digitally connected future for all Africans, ensuring that formal money transfers are accessible, affordable, and secure. Airtel Money, with its widespread presence, plays a vital role in facilitating this vision by allowing recipients in Uganda to cash out their funds for free.
Airtel Money Uganda’s managing director, Mr. Japhet Aritho, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating, “We have partnered with Sasai Money Transfer on their innovative initiative that aligns with our own agenda of ensuring financial inclusivity for all Ugandans. This offer brings even more value to our customers, coinciding with our big consumer promotion, Vroomula Amajja, which offers customers a chance to win daily cash prizes, weekly Boda-Boda prizes and a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid by simply receiving remittances into their Airtel Money wallet.”
Sasai Money Transfer’s previous partnership with EcoCash, Zimbabwe’s largest mobile money operator, has been highly successful. The zero-fees model gained popularity in the UK and South Africa, offering relief from high remittance fees and providing critical support to families back home.
